Shapefile to Draw
This is an application I wrote to convert a shapefile into a TXT file. The TXT file can then be imported directly into DeLorme Street Altas, Topo USA, or XMap as a draw layer. For more information, see Importing Shapefiles.
SHP2DRAW20110512.ZIP - This ZIP file (3.1MB) contains three files (SHP2DRAW.exe, Proj4.dll, and Proj.ini) and a directory ('nad') with 21 support files. Just unzip into the folder of your choice (i.e., 'C:\SHP2DRAW\'). The 21 support files must be in the 'nad' subfolder (i.e., 'C:\SHP2DRAW\nad\'). All coordinate transformations are now done using the proj4.dll. See http://trac.osgeo.org/proj/ for more information. Projection information is stored in proj.ini - Still need to finish entering parameter information for all supported projections.
NOTE: If you're using IE and getting a "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive." error message, then try this link: SHP2DRAW20110512.z_i_p . When I downloaded using IE7, the underscores were removed automatically. If they aren't then you will need to manually rename the file.

- Changed the "Field Name Selection List" from a TListBox to a TComboBox.

- Added "Optimize TXT File" checkbox. When checked (default), the application will try to combine objects. This should help reduce the clutter when exporting with a Field Name. NOTE: The optimizing logic only works with "line" type shapefiles.

- Re-built Proj4.dll to eliminate "application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)" error. I believe this error was being caused if user's system was missing the file "msvcr90.dll". By using the "/MT" option of Visual Studio 2008, Proj4.dll should be completely self contained now.

- When generating TXT file, data is no longer buffered in RAM. Each line of data is now written immediately to TXT file. Buffering of data caused an out-of-memory error for very large TXT files.

- Strings used for searching PRJ file are now stored in prjstrings.ini. This allows new search strings to be added by user.

- Fixed major bug. Records with multiple parts weren't being decoded correctly, both in preview and when generating TXT file!

- Added Michigan Oblique Mercator.
- Changed how selection of Projection is determined. If "Automatic" is selected, then program will try to determine projection based on Project File. If projection is set to any other setting, then program will use selected setting when reading shapefile.
- If shapefile contains lines or polygons, a Field Name from Database can now be selected. If no name is desired, then select "No Name".
- To use the record number as name, then select "Use Record Number". This can be chosen for points, lines, or polygons.

Combining ADC Files
This application can be used to combine multiple ADC files into one. This has several effects:
1. Only one entry will be displayed on the Map Files tab.
2. There seems to be a limit to how many connections can be opened by Topo, Street Atlas,
and/or XMap. When this limit is exceeded, not all connections are made, resulting in "holes"
in the imagery. By combining the ADC files into one, more imagery can be displayed.
